The Ashram’s mission of preaching and spreading spiritual knowledge is accomplished by building and operating a house of worship, which includes the installation of suitable idols of Hindu deities. As per the teachings of Guru Guruvanand Swami, the Ashram regularly worships the idols of the Hindu deities. The Ashram also oversees the teaching of Hindu religious scriptures and hymns. The celebration of Hindu festivals is a cornerstone of the Ashram’s mission as well as the organization of discourses, conducting bhajans, playing music and directing other culturally related programs.
Other services that are open to the public include Sunderkand Path (10th Chapter of Ramayana) every first Sunday, yoga every Sunday, Satsung every third Sunday and Seva (the act of donating food to shelters) every fourth Sunday. In addition to all of these services, the WSF also provides guidance on meditation. The Ashram also undertakes the teaching of Vedas to children. It maintains a library which all devotees can use, publishes books and periodicals relevant to the house of worship, provides meals to seniors’ homes and conducts food and clothing drives during the festival season.
The WSF has devotees who take voluntary trips to India to improve their knowledge and self-awareness. Upon their return, they share the knowledge they have gained with other devotees in Toronto.
The WSF Canada Ashram is dedicated to serving the people of the surrounding area and making use of every possible resource in order to provide the highest quality of service and to remain true to the WSF mission statement.
